Judgment Rains
Isaiah 3:1-25
Jerusalem has stumbled, and Judah has fallen, because what they say and what they do is against the Lord. They are defiant in his honored presence.
Isaiah 3:8, GWT.
Sin attracts judgment. When left unconfessed and unrepented of, sin will attract the judgment and punishment that is due. This is that happened to the people of Jerusalem and Judah. God warned them, they failed to listen and return. The Lord judged them.
With my scientific mind, I can see from the passage we read several tools of judgment that the Lord used to punish His people. He used famine, warm drought, oppression, bad leadership, and its negative outcomes.
There is a link between this passage and the state of the nation of the world. Can you identify the similarities in the situations in our countries, states, and cities? I believe God is sending a message to us in this season. Let us heed His warning.
God says, “Instead of the smell of perfume, there will be the smell of decay. They will wear ropes instead of belts. They will have bald heads instead of beautiful hair. They will wear sackcloth instead of expensive clothes. Their beauty will be scarred” (Isaiah 3:24, GWT).
He went further to say, “Women, your warriors will die in combat. Your mighty men will die in battle. The gates of Zion will cry and grieve, and Zion will sit on the ground, exhausted. (Isaiah 3:25-26, GWT). Since we do not want to experience these calamities, let us seek the Lord. Shalom.
Your Turn
- With the similarity between our time and the happenings described in today’s Bible passage, how will you respond to God’s word?
- Let us repent on behalf of our land. Ask the Lord to have mercy on you and your household.
Song: Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty.
