The Day Of The Lord

Isaiah 2:12-22
For the day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up – and it shall be brought low upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan.
Isaiah 2:12-13.

One of the obstacles to genuine repentance and brokenness of heart is pride. When we think we are okay and that we do not need to repent of any sin, we have pitched our tent near a proud man.

None of us can say we are clean. That is why the Bible says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”
(Romans 3:23). It is all not some. It is not Christians that have sinned or Muslims that have sinned. It is also not the
traditional worshippers or the atheists that have sinned. It is all.

Until we see ourselves in the all we may not feel the pain we are meant to feel neither are we going to see the need to
repent. When our nation sinned, it is all of us that have sinned. Friend, you are not clean, and I am not clean. Let us
humble ourselves and seek the Lord.

Remember, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). If we fail to do this, then the word in
Isaiah 2:12-13 may happen to us: “For the day of the Lord of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon
everything lifted up and it shall be brought low upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up…” Let us
pray.
