Isaiah 23:8-9, NLT.

Tyre is one of the big cites of its time. It was a commercial city which attracted businessmen and merchants, and
made many nations rich. Tyre is like one of our mega cities today. Imagine Silicon Valley, New York and Seattle
crashing. Or Singapore and London losing their reputations as commercial centres. That is what the Lord did to Tyre.

Verses 5-10 describe Tyre. Yet, the Lord says you are going down. Why? Well, if you read further and do a root-cause
analysis, we will find that sin and injustice are the causes. Friend, sin is a destroyer. It is a destiny spoiler. It affected
Samson and he could not do all that God wanted him to do.

The Bible says, “Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose
traders are the honorable of the earth? The Lord of hosts has purposed it, to bring to dishonor the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth” (Isaiah 23:8-9).

Here is the good news: After 70 years, the Lord will visit the city and restore her. Her wealth will be used to serve the
purpose of the Lord. See verse 18. The message is clear: To remain in favor with the Lord, avoid destruction and
judgment; we must obey Him and do His will. Shalom.
