The Servant Of The Lord

Isaiah 42:1-9
Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
Isaiah 42:1.

This section introduces us to the servant of the Lord and the prophecies about Him. Many theologians believe these
prophecies concern the Lord Jesus Christ.

The prophet intimated us about the servant’s role. We are told that He will be filled with the Spirit of the Lord to fulfill His assignment. This is an extraordinary servant. He will not live and relate according to the order of men. Because God’s Spirit is in Him to guide and direct His affairs.

The Bible says, “He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth” (Isaiah 42:2-3). That is what distinguished Him.

When we think about the life of Jesus, we will see that He fulfilled this word. When men thought He would judge, He
pardoned. We see this in the case of the woman caught in adultery. See John 8:1-12.

When men of His day wanted Him to bend to their ways, He released the word of the Lord to counter their actions. He allowed the word of God to guide His actions. He applied the law rightly. See John 10::31-39. Friend, let us find strength and joy in the Lord and we will see Him daily. Shalom.
