Ten Lepers Cleansed
Luke 17:11-19
And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
Luke 17:13
In the gospels, I observe that many times those who need His help are the ones who initiated the process. On a few occasions, He reached out to them as He did at the pool of Bethesda in John 5. Blind Bartimaeus called on Him and He responded (Mark 10:46-52).
This reminds me of what the Scripture says in Psalm 50:15: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me”. In another place, the Bible says, “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles” (Psalm 34: 6). Jesus encourages us to ask too (see Matthew 7:7).
The ten lepers called on Him. They said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” (Luke 17:13). The lepers asked, and
Jesus responded with a word. O! What a Savior. He does great things through His word because He is the One who
holds all things together by the power of His word.
Observing he was healed, one of the ten lepers returned to give thanks. Jesus commended him. Are you sick in your
body? Do you have a loved one who is sick? You can call on Jesus to help. When we ask, let us believe that He will
hear us. He will not fail us. Shalom.
