Healing Fuelled By Compassion

Luke 14:1-6
And He took him and healed him, and let him go.
Luke 14:4

Today, we will look at another aspect of Jesus’ ministry- His healings. Jesus healed and delivered many that were
sick and oppressed by the devil because He was the Anointed One.

Apostle Peter bore witness to this when he said that, “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with
power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him”
(Acts 10:38, NLT). The several records of healing that we have in the gospels confirmed Peter’s word. Jesus healed
many and raised some from the dead.

From the passage we read, Jesus healed a man who was paralyzed. However, before He did, He asked the lawyers and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?” (Luke 14:3). They could not answer Him. Moved with compassion Jesus healed the man. He told them, “Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day?” (Luke 14:5-6).

Friend, how much of the life of Jesus have we emulated as Christians? How many times have we withdrawn from doing good because we think it is not the right place even when our heart compels us to do something? The Christian life is a life of influence. Let us see life from the eyes of the Master. Shalom.
