Symptoms Of Closed Heaven
Haggai 1:1-12
…and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes. (Haggai 1:6).
For the next few days we will look at some of the signs of closed heaven.
Presence of famine and dryness: This could be both physical and spiritual dryness. Today, we will focus on physical famine and dryness. From the passage we read we understand that God shut the heavens over His people. The little they had He blew it away to get their attention.
The Bible says, “You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes” (Haggai 1:6). This is a classic example of closed heaven. Why did God do this?
God shuts the heaven over His people due to misplaced priority. He wanted them to build His temple but they were busy building their lives. Are we guilty of the same? Our dryness may be the result of other offences. The solution is to assess our lives and make amends.
God’s desire is that we should prosper. Therefore, a closed heaven is not His plan for us. The earlier we realize it and seek His face for open heaven the better for us. May the Lord direct our hearts to His love and ways in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Your Turn
- Can you identify any of the above form of famine?
- Be sincere with the state of your heaven. Ask the Lord for open heaven.
