Settle Down And Work
2 Thessalonians 3:11-12
We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive… Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat (2 Thessalonians 3:11, NIV)
I like the phrase “settle down and earn the food they eat” (vs.12). Friend, we are living in a time that we need to be smart and hard working. We need to shun idleness and laziness. We must not be busy bodies, meddling in other people’s matter when our lives are in a mess.
As Christians, we are to be role models. We are to be examples in the way we live. It seems to me that those days are gone when we say I have nothing to do or I cannot find a job. The era we are in makes it easy for you to earn some form of income to take care of ourselves.
If you cannot get a salary job, you can start a small business. Some of us can establish a laundry service, business, hair dressing saloon or information technology-related jobs which requires minimal training. The fact that you are a graduate would make a difference in the way you run your business if you apply yourself to it.
We can also decide to do home services. These are simple or menial jobs but many have established big business with good profit margin from starting small. The Bible says we must earn what we eat. Seek to do something today. Shalom.
