Relational Advice

Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them,
in order that they may feel ashamed (2 Thessalonians 3:14, NIV ).

As Paul and his friends rounds off the letter, he encourages believers in the church to warn those who do not live according to the instructions in the letter. Why? The instructions are tools for living a godly life.

From the two verses we read, we see two ways we can bring their errors to their attention.

  1. Dissociate from them: That is, do not associate with them so that they would not think you              approved of their behavior. The aim is to make them feel sober and ashamed with the hope that  they would change.
  2. Warn them: Even though we dissociate from them, they are not our enemies. We warn them by  bringing the errors in their behavior to their  We do this, with the hope that they turn away from their wrong behaviors.

When they repent we are to welcome them back into the sheepfold; the Lord Jesus Christ Himself is the Chief Shepherd. May the Lord help us as we do this in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
