Know What You Have (2)
2 Peter 1:1-4
God’s divine power has given us everything we need for life and for godliness. This power was given to us through knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and integrity (2 Peter 1:3, God’s Word Translation).
Continuing from where we stopped yesterday, we will glean more truths from our devotional passage. Other things include:
- We have everything that we need for life and godliness. As I write this, it dawned on me that to say, “The devil made me to do it” is a fallacy because God’s power is in me and I have access to everything I need to live a godly life. It is then a matter of who I want to yield myself to.
- We have been given valuable promises through which we can access God’s nature and riches. Therefore, whatever we need to live right the Lord will provide because we have escaped corruption that sin causes. If in God’s eyes we have escaped, then we have. All we have to do is to continually remind ourselves that we have escaped and sin shall no longer have dominion over us.
Friend, my heart rejoiced as I read this passage in the translation I used to write it. God’s word is rich. In it we find and know what we have. When we have found it, like the parable of the treasure, let us keep it and hold it dear in our heart. For, in it we will find life. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Pause and think on today’s passage. Ask yourself how many of these benefits are you partaking of? · Pray for yourself as you have been challenged.
