Know What You Have (I)
2 Peter 1:1-4
To those who have obtained a faith that is as valuable as ours, a faith based on the approval that comes from our God and Savior, Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:1, God’s Word Translation).
Today, our attention is drawn to the second epistle of Apostle Peter from where we would glean divine truths that would help to shape our faith and hope in Christ Jesus. A closer look at this passage indicates what salvation has provided for us. Understanding this provision will further boost our confidence in the salvation we have received.
- We have obtained a faith that is precious or valuable based on approval from God and His Son, Jesus Christ. This faith is not in man but in God and in His Son. See 1 John 1:4. This further frees us from any approval seeking
- We have access to God’s grace and peace. This is made possible through knowledge. For instance, it is my expectation that at the end of this quarter your faith would have grown. I expect that you will know more grace and peace as a result of the knowledge you would gain from our meditations. Your peace would also increase because you know you are secure in the hands of Jesus and His father.
Friend, we need to know what we have so that we can benefit from their truth. May the Lord enlarge His word in our hearts.
Shalom.
Your Turn
- Praise God for the knowledge we have gained so far.
- Ask the Lord to help you to walk in the truth you have now.
Song: I will magnify the Lord.
