He Came To Seek The Lost
Luke 19:1-10
For the Son of Man has come to seekand to save that which was lost (Luke 19:10).
It is another Easter. Many of us are getting ready for the long holidays. However, we must not lose sight of the importance and the purpose of Good Friday. The significance of this day remains the same – God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son (see John 3:16).
The purpose of today is that when we believe the message of the Kingdom and receive Jesus into our lives, we become God’s children. Then God’s sacrifice in Christ Jesus would have been worth it. Zacchaeus did not know this truth but something in him long for Jesus. The Bible says, “He sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd… So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him…” (Luke 19:3-4).
Unknown to him, the Master had a plan. He was the kind of man Jesus was looking for. Rich but poor in spirit; short but full of potentials to become a disciple. Hated by the religious men of his day, yet his heart would be moldable in the hand of the Lord to become a changed man.
Friend, as you celebrate this day, are you one of His own? Have you received Him as your Lord and Savior? Do you have everlasting life? I do not know your answers but I implore you, do not run from the Master. Run towards Him because He came to save someone like you too. Shalom.
