Hard Labor And Struggle

Leviticus 26:14-22
And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass. (Leviticus 26:19).

The presence of struggle, fruitlessness, and hard labor is the next symptom we will consider. In this situation, you work but it amounts to nothing.

When the heaven is closed and rain is withheld the ground will become hard. Whatever is planted in that period may not germinate. If they do, the harvest will be poor.  The reason for the poor yield is the lack of rain in due season. The blessing mentioned in Leviticus 26:3-5 can only come when there is rain in due season.

Today’s passage reveals the effect of closed heaven. I am sure none of us wants to experience the negative consequences of no rain, no fresh anointing, no newness of life, loss of grace and favor. It is actually these that cause the struggle and hard labor.

What the grace of God does is similar to what oil does in a car. It greases the engine in order to reduce friction and avert engine knock. When divine favor is gone then the presence of God is gone and you are left with nothing. At this point, you will notice that living becomes miserable.

When we sense these signs, it is time to shut everything down and seek the Lord for His mercy, restoration and grace. When we do, I am sure the Lord will answer us because He promises to do so. See 1 John 1:9; Jeremiah 33:3.

Your Turn

  • Pray for yourself.
  • Pray for anyone whom you know to be experiencing closed heaven.
  • Pray for Nigeria as you are led.
