God Knows You

Judges 6:11-18
Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree … which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress (Judges 6:11).

One of the mistakes we make is thinking in terms of the present and our background. That is not how God thinks. God thinks in terms of the future, what He sees in us and where He is taking us. Where we see a failure, God sees a future hero. Where we see lack, God sees abundance because He knows how everything will turn out. He is omniscience, the all knowing God.

Imagine hiding from the enemy and God says you are a mighty warrior. It does not make sense to the human mind. So, when the angel approached Gideon, he could not see himself as a mighty man because that has never been part of his experience.

His curriculum vitae do not reflect the potential of becoming a warrior in future. He told the angel, “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” (Judges 6:15, NLT).

Friend, do not allow your present circumstance to define your perception of your tomorrow. The situation you are facing now has an expiry date. When it is all over you will be the winner because God has declared that in all things you are more than conqueror. Believe who God says you are and look forward to becoming it. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • In what ways have you demeaned yourself and not receive the blessing God wants to give you?
  • Have you refused an offer because you felt you were not qualified? Pray for yourself.

Song: Lord, I lift Your Name on high.
