He Provides Spouse
Genesis 24: 1-28
Then he said, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham” (Genesis 24:12).
Breaking the barrier of limitation that we have placed on God in our minds is one of my goals for writing this short devotion on the God who provides. It is time for us to see that God cares for our total wellbeing not just our spiritual life. See 3 John 2.
Having walked with God for so many years, Abraham knew that Isaac must marry the right girl from the right tribe so that God would be pleased and the covenant would continue. He sent his servant to look for a spouse for Isaac. It was a tough one because if the lady refused to relocate, it would be a wasted journey. But Abraham insisted. He knew God would do something.
Abraham’s servant prayed. He understood that God answers prayers. Perhaps he was there when Isaac was born or he may have heard about the story in Genesis 22. He prayed, “O Lord God of my master Abraham, please give me success this day, and show kindness to my master Abraham” (Genesis 24:12).
God answered him. He got Rebekah for Isaac. She was willing to go with him. That is our God. If you need a spouse for yourself, your children, a family member, God can provide. Let us reach out to God with childlike faith and trust Him to answer us. We will begin to witness new things in our lives. Shalom.
