All Glory Belong To God

Jude 25
To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen (vs.25, NIV).

The conclusion of Jude’s letter reminds me of the word of John the Apostle in Revelation Chapter 5.

I love Jude 25 because it captures it all. It gives honor to whom it is due. It says again in a nutshell where power lies. It is with God and He deserves it all. Jude writes: “To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen” (Jude 25, NIV).

First, our God is the Only God and Savior. Second, all that we have and can give to God is only made possible through Jesus Christ our Lord. Once again these statements reiterate that Jesus is the only way to the Father. Paul echoes this in Hebrews 13:5.

Finally, he said:

To God be glory: i.e the moral beauty and character and perfection as a visible presence.

To God be the majesty.  Every honor ascribed to a royalty is His.

To Him belongs power. Our God has the ability to perform all activity and deed

To God be the authority. While power suggests physical strength, authority suggests a moral right or privilege. He owns the power and authority to do anything in us and in our world.

All of these we give to God and continue to ascribe to Him through Jesus now and forever more. Amen.
