We Pass It On
2 Timothy 2:1-2
And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).
Another benefit of contending and standing for the truth of the gospel is that it allows us to pass on the baton of spiritual warfare and what we know to others.
Paul told Timothy, “And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:2). When young believers see the way we stand for truth and fight wrong doctrine and false teaching, they will learn from us. Our actions will show them that that is what they need to do also when they are confronted with similar situation.
One thing we need to keep in mind is that false doctrines and their perpetrators will always be around us. Just as they were in the time of the Apostles, they will continue to be. No generation of believers will be immune from them. In fact, we should expect an unprecedented increase in their activities in the latter days. It is all part of the plan.
Paul told Timothy, “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demon” (1 Timothy 4:1). We are in that day. If we all stand, the church will stand strong and the faith we have all received will remain. Shalom.
