The Doxology

Jude 24-25
To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault  and with great joy (vs. 24, NIV).

I have become so enthused with this little book that has taught us so much about the life of faith, the church and the battle we are in so much that coming to the end of it fills me with reverence.

I appreciate the way Jude ended the letter with these two verses of doxology. A doxology simply means a declaration of praise to God expressing His power and glory. Jude reveals to us that in the midst of all the contentions that are going on and the satanic attacks that the enemy is waging against the church, our God is able to do two things.

First, God is able to keep us from stumbling, since He is able to present us holy before His throne. Our God is able to keep us from falling because He is God.  See Psalm 115:3. He has the power to ensure our safety and to keep the church within the purview of sound doctrine and truth of the gospel that His Son came to teach us.

Second, God is able to preserve His church because He loves us. Paul writes: “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day” (2 Timothy 1:2). Let this be our belief too because God is able to do so. Shalom.
