Jude Paid Attention
Jude 3
Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
Without wasting time, Jude introduced his readers to the letter’s focus. Based on his observation of the trend in the church, he changed the focus of his letter having been inspired to write on something that is relevant to the current situation and the need in the church.
He said, “I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3). I believe this is one of the things we all need to pay attention to. Of importance are those who have been given the grace to teach or preach the word of God in one form or the other.
We must be sensitive to the situation around us and be alert to how the Holy Spirit would want us to respond or encourage our fellow believers. If Jude had failed to listen, he would have written a letter that would bless the people but one with less impact.
How often do we pay attention to the inner voice of the Spirit to know how to speak a word in season to those who are around us? Are we given to listening to God before we speak to people? May the Lord help us to listen as He speaks to us in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Your Turn
- Are you paying attention to what the Lord wants you to pay attention to?
- Pray that you will be more sensitive in the spirit to know how to speak right.
