Your Talent Is A Tool

Luke 19:11
A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’
Luke 19:12-13

Jesus used several parables to teach divine truths. He did this to get the attention of His audience and help them to
connect with the fundamental truths in them.

Today, our attention is drawn to His teaching on money, talents or minas as it is called here. The focal message is that God has given us talents as tools to engage in kingdom business and serve others. We serve God and humanity when we use them.

The nobleman called his servant and told them: ‘Do business till I come.’ On his return, he asked them to give an account of what they did with what he gave them. One said, “ ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’ (Luke 19:16). The master replied, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities’ ” (Luke 19:17). So it will be with all of us.

The one who failed to use or invest his minas or talent will be punished. I believe we do not want that. What are you doing with the gifts and talents that God has given you? How about your experiences and resources? Are you multiplying them, or you have hoarded it? What rewards or blessings are you expecting from the Noble God? Think of these things. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Pray as you have been challenged by today’s word.
  • Pray for the help that you need to focus on what matters to the kingdom of God.
