You Have What It Takes
1 Samuel 17:30 -58
Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth. (1 Samuel 17:49).
Today’s challenge is for all of us. Many times when I know I can do something about a situation I still don’t do it. Why? Well I am sure we can relate it to some of the following statements:
- I need to practice and be sure I could do it.
- I need to pray more.
- Maybe I am being presumptuous.
- It is not my business, others can do it etc.
But David did neither of the above. He saw Goliath’s rantings as against the glory of God. He believed he had what it took. Some of the things He did included:
- He spoke out to be sure no one really wanted to come out.
- He asked for and understood the reward system.
- He recalled God’s faithfulness and His experience in similar situations though of different magnitude.
- He trusted God to help him.
- He stepped out in faith.
The Bible says, “Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead…” (1 Samuel 17:49). Friend, I believe we can utilize some wisdom from this story. May the Lord help us as we seek to be more useful to Him in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Praise God for the clarity that His word has brought to us.
- Ask the Lord to forgive you for the time that you have failed to do something.
- Ask Him to show you ways you can begin to serve Him anew.
Song: My lifetime, I will give God my life time.
