Words For Damascus And Israel

Isaiah 17:1-14
Then at last the people will look to their Creator and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. They will no longer look to their idols for help or worship what their own hands have made.
Isaiah 17:7-8a, NLT.

The Lord continues to speak to His people through His servant. It’s encouraging to see how God helped Isaiah
to remain focused on his calling. He was called to be a prophet to the nations and to declare God’s mandate. He
remained focused on it even when some of the visions he received were tough.

God spoke through Isaiah saying, “Damascus is doomed! It will end up in ruins!” (Isaiah 17:1, CEV). Why? It is because of their sins. They will suffer for the sins they have committed. The nation of Israel will be punished also to the extent that, “its prosperous people will be skin and bones” (Isaiah 17:4, CEV).

Yet, God looked forward to the day they would repent. He said, “Then at last the people will look to their Creator and
turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel. They will no longer look to their idols for help or worship what their own hands have made. They will never again bow down to their Asherah poles” (Isaiah 17:7-8a, NLT).

This is what God expects of us too. God wants us to return and worship Him alone. Friend, God is a jealous God. He
loves us and wants total allegiance. Whenever we deviate from this plan, we will get into trouble. May the Lord help us to see things the way He sees them and heed His call for worship in Jesus Name. Shalom.
