Who Moved? You or God?
Judges 6:12-13
…But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian (Judges 6:13, NIV).
Gideon’s response to the angel revealed his concerns for his people. Responding to the angel, he gave a comprehensive answer based on the historical heritage of the people. He told the angel, “If the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about” (vs.13).
However, in his response was a statement that was not true to God’s nature and character. To the heathen it may be seen as a fact but not God’s own people. He said, “Now the LORD has abandoned us”. No! God never abandons anyone. Even in your sinfulness, He still loves you and seeks that you be reconciled to Him. Your sin separated you from Him, but it can never take you away from His mercy, if you will dare to respond to Him.
God did not abandon them; they did. God did not move, they moved through their sins. See Isaiah 59: 1-2. Friend, it is not God who has left you, it is you who left Him. He is still where He is, on His throne breathing out mercy and grace unto us daily and to as many as will receive it.
You may feel you have been forgotten but you are not. God still loves you. Call on Him today and He will abundantly pardon.
