What Good Work Are We Doing?
Mark 14: 1-7
But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me” (Mark 14:6).
As we get closer to the Easter celebration season, we focus our attention on the scriptural passages that narrate the events that happened before and after the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
One of the incidents recorded for us is the one that took place in the house of Simon, the leper, in Bethany. The Bible says a woman walked in and poured a bottle of expensive fragrant oil on His head. While others reviled her, Jesus commended her and used her action to preach a message to His audience.
Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me” (Mark 14:6). Applying this to ourselves, can it be said of us that we are doing a good thing in representing and presenting Jesus Christ to the world? By representation, I mean how is our lifestyle? Is our life reflecting the fact that we have received eternal life and the Holy Spirit dwells in us?
How are we doing in reaching those who have not known the Lord and who need His love and care? Remember, if Jesus could commend this woman, it means He sees us too and He would commend us if we do well. See Revelation 2:2. Let us consider our ways as we think about the Lord this week.
Shalom.
