We Will Be Helped

Isaiah 41:14-16
Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid, people of Israel, for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer. I am the Holy One of Israel (Isaiah 41:14, New Living Translation).

The prophet described the children of Israel as a worm to reveal their weaknesses and need for help. If you can imagine how helpless a worm is in the presence of its prey then you would be able to capture the tone of our focal text.

The good news is that the Lord knew the challenge they were faced with, their fears and need for help. He sent His word to them: “Though you are a lowly worm, O Jacob, don’t be afraid… for I will help you. I am the Lord, your Redeemer” (Isaiah 41:14 NLT).

This word is also for us. God is our helper and we will be helped. We are not victims and objects of pity. The covenant says we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. See Romans 8:37.

Reading further, the Lord promised to strengthen us and empower us so that we could win over our adversaries and bring their schemes to an end. When it is all over, we will rejoice and praise the Name of the Lord who has helped us.

How can we benefit from this promise? The answer is not hidden. When we choose to look to the Lord, we will find the answer we need. See Psalm 121:1-2. As you go out, remember the Lord is your helper. Ask for the help you need. Shalom.
