We Pray For Our Nation
2 Chronicles 7:12-22
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face … I will hear from heaven…(2 Chronicles 7:14).
Reading through this passage, I understand the love of God and His faithfulness to us. He knows us too well. He knew that we would make mistakes yet He made a way for us by providing a caveat for humility and prayer. The issue is not whether we will sin; it is when we sin, what would be our response?
The phrase, “When I shut the heaven” means it will happen. It is a matter of time. But when it does happen will our nation be humble enough to pray for forgiveness and ask God for mercy? The state of the nation today gives everyone concern. Yet, we are all partakers of her sins. I do not know your position but I know no one is exempted from the pain that is ongoing in the land.
It is time to lift up our voices and cry out to the Lord as we have been doing that He would show mercy. It is time for individuals to repent of their sins and ask the Lord to heal our land. This is not the time to apportion blame. It is time to come together, form prayer groups across the city and the nation to intercede for our land.
God has promised to hear us when we pray. I believe God and I know that Nigeria will flourish again. God will visit us and revive our land.
Your Turn
- Pray for yourself. Ask for forgiveness for the role you played in the current situation.
- Pray for the nation. Ask the Lord to have mercy. Pray for our leaders and men in authority.
Song: Come, Holy Spirit we need You.
