Luke 24:44-49
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high (Luke 24:49, NIV).

Jesus, the perfect leader, cares for His followers. Having passed through the world, He knew what we need to carry on the work He has started. He told the disciples, “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high” (Luke 24:49, NIV).

We need God’s power to fulfill the Great Commission; to be a witness to all nations and make disciples for the Lord. We need His power to be witnesses of His power. We need the power and the anointing of the Holy Spirit so that we can be effective in life too.

Jesus lived and fulfilled His purpose because He was filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus understood Isaiah 61:1-3 and quoted the verses in Luke Chapter 4:16-21.

Friend, as you seek to serve the Lord, wait on Him and ask to be filled with His power from on high. No one can serve the Lord in his own strength. The work of ministry, opening of blind eyes and being a light to the unlighted require the power of the Holy Spirit.

It takes God to convince and convict unbelievers to receive the message of Christ. May the Lord fill us with His power in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
