We Can Do It
1 Samuel 1:1-20
…if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the Lord for all the days of his life… (1 Samuel 1:11, NIV).
When Hannah prayed, God answered. When Nehemiah prayed, God answered. So, I believe if we pray God will
answer us too because the power to create change is available when we pray to the Living God. He will hear us because we are living under a better covenant than the saints of old.
From today’s Bible passage, we could see that until Hannah changed her tactics from complaining to seeking God, nothing happened. When she changed her attitude and presented the opportunity to partner with God, God answered her. It became a win-win situation for both parties.
Could it be that God is waiting for us to put His kingdom first when we pray? Could it be that our prayers lack kingdom focus that is why we have many unanswered prayers? I do not know but I know that we can learn from the passage and use some wisdom in it.
The Bible says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”
(Matthew 6:33). This could be the beginning of a revolution in our prayer life. It could also mark the beginning of experiencing the meaning of this scripture as the Lord add those things that we need and desire to us.
Hannah got Samuel and gave him to God. God returned many sons and daughters back to her. May the Lord expand this word into our hearts. Shalom.
