Unrelenting Punishment

Isaiah 9:8-21
For the leaders of this people cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed.
Isaiah 9:16.

Despite all that God has done and planned to do, the people remain adamant in their sin. Of interest is the
case of the rest of the tribes, Ephraim and Israel. They were not spared in the vision Isaiah saw. God promised to punish them too.

Their leaders and priests were among those who led the people astray. The Bible says, “For the leaders of this people
cause them to err, and those who are led by them are destroyed. Therefore the Lord will have no joy in their young
men, nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; for everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth
speaks folly” (Isaiah 9:16-17).

A recurring sentence in this passage is, “For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still” (Isaiah 9:21). What lessons can we learn from all of these? If God continues to warn us and we do not take correction, it means we are getting ready for judgment. Every sin and disobedience attract punishment.

God will judge the wicked and the oppressor of His people. He hates injustice. He knows that no one will fight for the
oppressed so He will fight for them. May the Lord have mercy on us and help us learn from happenings around us. Shalom.
