Two Smoking Firebrands
Isaiah 7:1-10
Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted for these two stubs of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and the son of Remaliah.
Isaiah 7:4.
I see God stepping into someone’s situation and taking over their battle this day. I see you rejoicing as the Lord fights
your battle for you and grant you victory.
Friend, we serve a powerful God. He deserves our worship and loyalty always. When Rezin and his colleagues thought they had King Ahaz in their hands, they did not know that it was God, the Almighty, they were kicking against. They didn’t know that their rantings on earth against the King and his people had reached the ears of the controller of all creation in heaven.
On earth, the heart of King Ahaz and his people “were shaken as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind” (Isaiah 7:2, GWT). On earth, he saw a multitude of powerful men. But in heaven, God saw the two opposing Kings as “smoldering logs”. In the end, God declared the verdict on the two kings: “It shall not stand, nor shall it come to pass” (Isaiah 7:7). That was it! God granted King Ahaz and his people victory.
When Elisha’s servant saw the army of Samaria, his master saw the chariots of heaven. Oh, that our eyes will be opened to see our enemies for who they are so that we do not fear them.
May the Lord grant you victory over your enemies too as you stand in faith declaring the word of the Lord. Shalom.
