The Seasons We Are In
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Life is all about times and seasons. The passage we read confirms this. God made it that life should revolve in such manner. The God’s Word Translation presents our focal text thus: “Everything has its own time, and there is a specific time for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
Friend, I believe that as individuals, nations and our world we are in seasons also. Many of us are in the season of building while others are in the season of tearing down in order to prepare for something new and greater. Others may actually be in the season of mourning while others are dancing.
Globally, we are in the season of famine and it is time for us to look to the Lord. In many nations, there is famine of seasoned and quality leaders. There is also the famine of food and rain. Some famines have lasted longer than usual and many people are dying due to lack of food and drought.
Interestingly, some of these nations have had seasons of abundance but nothing was done to prepare for this season. We need to pray for God’s mercy; pray for the rain of God’s abundance; rain that would cause the land to yield its increase. Our God listens and hears all manner of prayers. No prayer is too big or small for His attention. Let us pray.
Your Turn
- Pray for good and quality leaders for our nations.
- Pray for rain in the nations that are experiencing drought and famine right now.
Song: Majesty, worship His majesty.
