The Rebellious Children
Isaiah 1:2
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the Lord has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me.
Isaiah 1:2.
From Isaiah’s prophecy, we come face to face with the offence of the people of Judea. God brought them out of the
land of Egypt, loved and saved them. He made them His special people. His people did not reciprocate His love for
them.
The Lord says, “I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against Me” (Isaiah 1:2). Because of their rebellion God called creation to witness as He makes His case against them.
From this, I see a God who wants to be justified in His judgment. I see a God who loves us too much to leave us in our sins. God reasons with them and states their offences to enable them to know that His judgment is just and fair.
Friend, have we not done the same thing to the Lord? Have we not rebelled against Him despite all the good things He has done for us? As a nation can we say we have treated God right?
Have we treated one another right? These and many otherissues we need to reflect on as we consider our lives and the state of our nation.
We need to cry to the Lord. Issues related to our life and our nation should not be handled with levity. Let us plead or mercy over our lives, city, and nation. Think on these things. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Are our sins and actions not repelling God from our nation? What are you going to do about it?
- Pray and ask God for mercy and forgiveness.
