The Month Of Purification

2 Corinthians 6:14-18; 7:1
Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God (2 Corinthians 7:1).

Friends, this is the month of purification. As we step into the second half of the year, it is time to review our lives vis-a-vis where we are with God. The Lord has blessed us with so much. He has a high expectation of us when He saved us and gave us His Son as the propitiation for our sin. We have His Holy Spirit too to guide us through life.

However, many times our lives do not match what God planned for us because we are not living in line with His purpose. God’s promise is to dwell in us and live in us. He wants to walk with us and help us to please Him.

What are we to do? The answer is in our focal text. Paul writes, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

1. We must purify ourselves from everything that defiles our body and spirit.
2. We must be willing to leave behind what God says leave. See 2 Corinthians 6:14-18.
3. We must pursue holiness because we love, respect and reverence the Lord.

When we do these with a good attitude, we will begin to see holiness from a different perspective. May the Lord help us in Jesus’ Name. Shalom.
