“The Faith” In A Snapshot
Romans 5:1-21
Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
A snapshot is a picture or photo of something or someone.
Today, we will look at a short summary of what faith is in view of our devotional topic. A more detailed look at salvation is discussed in the next quarter.
- The faith that we have preaches justification by faith in Christ Jesus. Any teaching that does not affirm this is not from God. The Bible says, “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1).
- Righteousness is a gift from God. The Bible never preached salvation by works. For the Scripture has declared that “by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:20, NASB).
- Performance-based Christianity is not the gospel. See Ephesians 2:8
- Grace is not a license to sin. That we have been forgiven and live under grace does not give us the permission to live a life of sin. We are accountable to God and our body is the temple of God’s Spirit.
A shift from these truths is a shift into error and apostasy. May the Lord help us to understand and apply these truths in Jesus’ Name.
Shalom.
Your Turn
- Thank God for the saving power and grace in His word.
- Pray that you will live within the faith that has been delivered to the church and not be deceived.
