The Door To Humility

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits (2 Thessalonians 2:13).

When it comes to the matter of salvation and our eternal security, I believe humility is the door to thanksgiving. When we acknowledge the fact that our preservation from the coming destruction is because we are saved, then we will celebrate and rejoice in Christ Jesus.

Paul said, “But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits” (2 Thessalonians 2:13, NIV). You and I belong to that order. We have been saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit.

Our faith in the truth of the gospel made the difference. We heard it; we believed and have been marked for eternal life. Remember, “As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). Look at the following quotes:

Salvation is free for you because someone else paid. – Anonymous

We are saved by someone doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.  – Lester

Let us rejoice and be glad as we thank the Lord for the privilege we have in Him. Shalom.
