Sustaining An Open Heaven

John 15:1, 5-6
I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (John 15:5).

Today, we will begin to look at some tools that will help us to sustain an open heaven after we have secured one.

The first thing to note is the need to sustain our personal consecration. I find no other Scripture to use on this issue than the gospel of John where Jesus Himself taught on abiding in Him. Anyone who cares about being continuously favored by God must do the things that please the Lord.

This would include maintaining your time of fellowship with God. Our personal altar must not lack the sacrifice of praise and worship. The times of intimacy with the Lord keeps us fresh. Our garments will remain white and the oil on our heads will be fresh if we continue to seek the Lord and worship Him.

Also, the more you abide in Him, the more He will rub the fragrance of His presence and power on you. Remember, the dew of heaven only falls on a man who stays in the vicinity of God’s rain.

Jesus encourages us to do this because He understands the need for us to stay connected to Him. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). We will be wise to heed this advice. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Talk to the Lord about the areas where you need His help so that you can sustain His grace in your life.
  • Pray for the church today as you are led by the Spirit of God.

Song: Lord, You are more precious than silver.
