Steps To Recovery
Ruth 2:2-3
Then she left, and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers (Ruth 2:3a).
While I am aware that no “one size fits all” for recovery and breakthrough, reading through the Book of Ruth, I came across principles we could glean from and apply to our lives. The following are some of the ways we could begin again after we have gone through a devastating experience or major setbacks like divorce, job loss, loss of a child or spouse.
- Recognize where you are: This means we need to face the fact and acknowledge the reality of the situation that we are in. Denial helps no one. It would only delay our journey to recovery and renewal. Ruth and Naomi acknowledged their loss and the lack of help.
- Believe you can begin again. As long as we have breath we can always begin again and start all over. We may not go back to where we used to be, but with faith and trust in God, we can choose to start again. I am a firm believer in change and renewal. That is why one of my personal mantra is that “you can always begin again and make something good come out of your life”.
- Seek God’s face. We need His forgiveness, help and direction. We need to pray and ask Him to help us and guide us as we express our fears and need for recovery.
Look at these three points. How can you apply them to your personal life and relationships?
Your Turn
- Talk to God about your situations.
- Pray for someone in your family, school, office or a friend who needs recovery and restoration.
