Spiritual Apathy

Matthew 7:1-6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine. (Matthew 7:6).

Spiritual apathy is another cause of closed heaven. It has to do with the lack of enthusiasm and energy for the things of God. It is a lack of interest and absence of desire to do something. Sometimes this could be a direct result of an attack on us and our ministry. It could also come from stress or being choked with the cares of this world.

For example, neglecting preaching engagements received and opportunity to serve in a congregation could be a sign that we are straying away from God. It could also be a sign of burnout or stress. Whatever the cause of this apathy, it is something that must be watched because if care is not taken it can lead to brass heaven.

When it is caused by our negligence, then God could withdraw His hands from our lives and ministries. If we observe this, we must go back to God and seek His face so that we can be refilled and strengthened.

The heavens could also be closed unto a man who does not make God’s call and God’s burden a priority in his heart. Jesus said, “Never give what is holy to dogs or throw your pearls before pigs. Otherwise, they will trample them with their feet” (Matthew 7:6, NIV). Let us not fall guilty of these things.

Shalom.
