Speak And Expect It To Happen
Mark 11:12-14; 20-24
In response Jesus said to it, “Let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” And His disciples heard it (Mark 11:14).
When Jesus got to the fig tree He found nothing to eat. He used the opportunity to teach His disciples the concept of faith in another dimension. He spoke to the fig tree and His disciples heard it. But what He said did not happen immediately. Jesus was not bothered about it.
He believed what He said would come to pass. He does not have to stand and fight the fig tree to dry up. No! The word must produce result. See Isaiah 55:11. That is the realm that Jesus lived and He wanted us to move to that level too. But the disciples did not understand this.
The next day the fig tree had dried up. Peter said, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree which You cursed has withered away” (Mark 11:21). Jesus replied him, “Have faith in God… whoever says to this mountain… and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:22-23).
The issue is not whether the tree would dry up, the key thing is for you to believe that it will when you spoke. The timing of the fulfillment of the word is not our business. Our business is to use our mustard seed faith.
This is a challenge for us. Let us move to this higher level of faith. Shalom.
