Snatch Others From Fire
Jude 23
Save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh (NIV).
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary the word “snatch” is an intransitive verb. It means “to attempt to seize something suddenly”. As a transitive verb it means “to take or grasp abruptly or hastily”.
Therefore, when the Bible says, “Save others by snatching them from the fire” (NIV), we can understand what it means. In our bid to contend for the faith we must be conscious of the need to seize the opportunity to snatch men and women from the hands of false teachers. We must be alert and confront them in love while we show them their practices and teachings.
For instance, when we meet someone whose doctrine is not in line with the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ, we can share the truth with them. The Lord is with us. He will confirm His words. Our duty is to share the truth we know with earnestness.
We cannot afford to waste time. The mind of men cannot remain in a vacuum for too long. The Holy Spirit will convict them of the truth, if we do our part. See John 16:5-11. At the fullness of time, as many as have been earmarked for salvation will be saved.
Their error will lead them to hell if they do not repent. This is another motivation for us to act speedily. The Lord will help us.
Shalom.
