Seek New Directions
1 Samuel 30:1-9
So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”
1 Samuel 30:8.
Yesterday, we touched on the issue of God’s plan. I believe one of the things we need to do as we plan for the incoming year is to seek new directions from God. There may be times that God would tell us to maintain the direction we are going. At other times, He may give us new directions.
Personally, I have observed that the Lord emphasizes different issues in our life at different times. Sometimes for the young people, God’s attention may be in the area of career development or academic pursuits. If one does not fall in line with God’s direction, one may find it difficult to catch up with that area later.
Another year, God may want to focus on preparing us for marriage, or actually marking a year for marriage. At other times, it may be time to assess one’s life and give more attention to our marriage and businesses.
How do we seek new direction?
1. Through prayers: God gives us the direction. It could come in the form of an impression on our mind, dreams
and visions.
2. Through godly counsel.
3. Through God-given opportunity.
In all, make sure you are convinced that God is leading you. David did not pursue the enemy until he knew that God was leading him. Divine direction assures you of divine protection and help. Shalom.
Your Turn
- Ask the Lord to lead you and guide you in the direction he has planned for you.
- Pray for your family. Ask for provision and protection.
Song: We give You glory Lord.
