Ruth’s Uncommon Qualities (III)

Proverbs 22:1
A good name is more desirable than great riches;
to be esteemed is better than silver or gold (Proverbs 22:1 NIV).

The following are additional qualities found in the life of Ruth:

Accountability: One of the qualities that is absent in many lives is accountability. Yet, we are stronger and better  when we remain humble and accountable to one another. We need to embrace this quality in our lives and our relationships. Throughout the story, Ruth remained accountable  to Naomi (See Ruth 2:19). She continued to give her updates on how things were going with her as she went in and out. No wonder God blessed her.

Good reputation: Our focal text says, “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold” (Proverbs 22:1, NIV). This is one of the  qualities we need to work on as Christians. We must be men and women of good reputation. Ruth’s reputation worked in her favor the day she met Boaz and that helped her to gain the affection of the man, who unknown to her, would become her husband.

Contentment: Contentment is one of the qualities we hardly find these days. Yet, this woman demonstrated to us the beauty of contentment and gratitude.

Friend, how accountable and contented are you to God and man? Is your reputation good enough or do you need a booster? Let us pray.

Your Turn
