Pure Living

1 John 2: 1-11
He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked (1 John 2:6).

In addition to having the right doctrine, we must pursue right living. Right living is pure living that is based on the truth of God’s word. This is what John the Apostle means by walking in His commandment.  When we become born again, our desire should be to walk and live in the truth that He has commanded.

If we say we know Him then we must be bold to confess Him and let our life show it. This is where many of us have problems. The lack of a lifestyle that matches what we profess is the reason many of us doubt our salvation. We confess one thing and live another thing.

To rectify this, our desire should be to be like Jesus every day in the way we live, talk and relate with one another. Jesus told his followers, “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit” (Matthew 7:17). In essence, Christ’s followers are encouraged to bear good fruits. “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:6).

Those who want to have the assurance of salvation must abide in Christ and make the pursuit of pure living their goal.

Shalom.
