Prophecies For Other Nations

Isaiah 13:1-22
I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud,  and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Isaiah 13:11.

Our attention is now turned to the visons of Isaiah concerning some foreign nations. Some were Israel’s neighbors and allies while others were their oppressors or those God used to vent His anger on them when they lived in
rebellion.

We will look at some of them because their themes appear to be the same. The overarching message is that God hates sin and injustice. He hates idol worship and spiritual adultery. Nations that were found wanting were judged. Some received lesser judgments while others were judged severely. Some of these visions may not have been fully fulfilled. We may see them happen in the days to come or in the end of the age.

In this chapter, we read about the message concerning Babylon. God used the Babylonians and their kings to punish
other nations. God will repeat this in the end of the age. He will punish the world for sin. Hear Him: “I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; I will halt the arrogance of the proud, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible” (Isaiah 13:11).

Why would God do this? Sin and rebellion to the law of God  attract judgment and punishment. The word remains, “If you do not do well, sin lies at the door” (Genesis 4:7). May the Lord help us to learn the lessons in Jesus Name. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Praise God for the revelation of His word as He continues to teach us about the futility of sin.
  • Pray that you will walk in His ways and please Him.
