Prepare For The New Year
Lamentations 3:40-41
Let us search out and examine our ways, and turn back to the Lord
Lamentations 3:40.
Self-reflection and examination are important steps to develop a self-improvement plan. When we examine
ourselves, we will know where we need to adjust or improve. Therefore, as we round off the year and are looking
forward to a new one, we need to pause and examine ourselves.
Today’s passage says we should examine ourselves so that we can turn to God to help us. If we are doing well, we need to seek His face to help us achieve greater things. If we are not satisfied with our progress, then we can ask God to show us where we are failing.
Sometimes, we fail because we do not ask for God’s plans before we embark on ventures. The Scripture says, “There
are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless [it is] the Lord’s counsel that will stand” (Proverbs 19:21). At other
times, we fail because we are lazy, or we do not pursue our vision with the right passion and energy.
Friend, as we prepare for the Yuletide season, let us pause and examine ourselves so that we do not enter the year 2020 with the same attitude and make the same mistakes we made this year. May the Almighty God help you as you seek to move forward in life and please Him. Prepare so that you will not perspire unnecessarily. Shalom.
