Prayer, The Game Changer
Acts 12: 1- 17
So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church to God (Acts 12:5, New American Standard Updated).
Friend, as we progress in the year make prayer a key part of your life. When we pray something happens. God hears and answers. When we pray God steps in and acts on our behalf.
I believe that prayer is the game changer. This is demonstrated in today’s passage. When Herod decided to attack the early church, he began with the leaders. It reflects the word that says, “I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered” (Mark 14:27).
King Herod planned to get the leaders who were fueling the “new insurgence and ideology” so that their followers would scatter. He did not know that God had a plan too. He will use the persecution for the advancement of the church.
First, he took James and killed him. The rest of the people were happy. Next, he took Peter. However, we were told that prayer was being made by the church. It was the prayers that changed the atmosphere and the situation of things for Peter in the prison. When they bombarded heaven with prayers, God responded and sent an angel. The rest is history.
Could it be that all our situation needs is an angel from the presence of God but our lack of prayer hinders us. Lift up your voice and call on God. He will respond. You will be delivered.
Shalom.
