Paul’s Three Desires

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith (2 Thessalonians 1:11 , NIV ).

Today, we will continue our study of the letter of Paul to the Thessalonians. The depth of Paul’s love for the believers in all the churches could not be captured in a single letter. He continues to share his heart’s desire for these churches.

From today’s Bible reading we can deduce three focal points.

  1. Thanksgiving: He continually thanks God for them and praise Him for what He is doing amongst them.
  2. Prayer: Sometimes, he prays for them to become stronger in faith and their love for one another. At other times, He prays that God would make them to be who He wants them to be. That is, to be worthy of His calling.
  3. Spiritual Growth: Many times, the reason Paul wants to visit them again is to ensure their spiritual growth and impact more grace unto them.

Friend, we can learn from the above and make them our goals too. How good it will be if our local church leaders have these desires for their members. The church will blossom and God’s power would be revealed.  May the Lord bless our hearts with These words. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Praise God for the men and women of God who are  committed to our welfare and spiritual growth.
  • Pray that you will practice these virtues too.

Song: I belong to a mighty God.
