Our Children Will Be Tested Too

Genesis 39:1-23
How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God? (Genesis 39:9).

Friend, as hard as it may sound, our children will be tested too. God will allow this so that they could own their faith in Him. The faith of their parents, Sunday school teachers and pastors will not save them in the day of adversity. They need to experience God as their redeemer and helper too. They need to know that Psalm 46:1 is true in every circumstances.

Thanks be to God, we can relax and rest in confident hope that they would come out well. See Isaiah 49: 25. When Joseph left home that morning he was unaware of what lay ahead. His life and destiny were radically changed by that errand. But God was there and He had everything planned. His arrival in Potiphar’s house, the prison and the things he went through were part of God’s purpose and plan for his life.

When Mrs. Potiphar tempted him, he demonstrated his level of walk with God at that time. His response to her shows that he was trained and knew God. He said, “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Geneiss 39:9).

May the Lord help us to raise our children as arrows so that they can stand the test of life and still love the same God that we love and not be like the children of Israel who failed their training and test. Shalom.

Your Turn

  • Pray for your children and children of believers in Your neighborhood.
  • Pray that we would not fail to teach them the core values of faith and living for God.
  • Ask for grace to trust that God will be with them and they will come out well.
