On-Purpose Pilgrims

Psalm 84:1- 12
Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. (Psalm 84:5).

While I was reading this Psalm few months ago, the Lord drew my attention to the need for us to be on-purpose pilgrims on earth. A pilgrim is someone who travels to a holy place. They embark on a journey for a purpose. A journey, on the other hand, is an act of traveling from one place to another.

As Christians, we are on a journey to heaven to meet with the Lord. This earth is not our home. The earlier we realize this, the better for us to enable us plan the way we live and journey to our destination. That you are born again is not a guarantee you will make it to the end.  Remember, “But he who endures to the end shall be saved”. (Mark 13:13b).

“Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage” (Psalm 84:5). They are blessed and empowered to prosper because their focus is on God and the journey they are on. They prosper because their strength is in God and not in themselves. They understand that by strength shall no man prevail. See1 Samuel 2:9.

While on the pilgrimage, they turn every challenge and obstacles into opportunities because they know it will turn out for their good. Friend, are you an on-purpose pilgrim? Let us pray.
