O Lord, Glorify Me

Jeremiah 30:18-24
I will add to their numbers, and they will not be decreased; I will bring them honor, and they will not be disdained (Jeremiah 30:19).

In today’s Bible reading, we are once again faced with the reality of God’s love and thoughtfulness towards us. Although the prophecy was primarily written to the Jews, we can apply it because we are spiritual Jews.  God’s heart’s desire is to heal us and restore all that we have lost.

My attention was drawn to our focal text and a prayer rose up in me. “O Lord, glorify me with Your presence and let me not be misled. Turn my captivity around and let every smallness in my life give way to the touch of your glory. Make me great so that my life can be a witness to the power of your love and your glory”.

This is God’s heart for us. He wants to honor us so that we will not be disdained (NIV).  See Psalm 8:5; Isaiah 61. It is not overzealousness to pray that God should glorify you. God will honor us because we honor Him.

As we round off the first half of the year, let us pray and ask God to glorify us. We need God’s glory to come upon us, rest on our homes, relationships, our jobs and nation. Our God is the God of greatness and the path of the righteous are meant to shine brighter. With these thoughts in mind, let us pray.

Your Turn
